Evening On The Prairie

The evenings this week have been just beautiful with light winds (very rare in KS) and cool temperatures in the 70s.

An after dinner drive around the countryside  at sunset is just the ticket in fall.

An old fencepost stands guard near a field of wild sunflowers.

A couple enjoys an early evening walk along a dirt road.

The pink afterglow of early evening descends as another fall day closes.

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

I am loving the pink sunsets. We don’t often see sunsets here and if we do, the houses and/or buildings get in the way of pure enjoyment…

  2. I love the time just before sunset, everything has a golden glow…

    So pretty….

I have just discovered your window on the prairie.
It was through a comment on the pioneerwoman’s website.
However, I would like your biscuit recipe. I can hand copy but it would be easier if you had a print button on your page to do same. It looks absolutely beautiful where you live..will continue to visit via the web…from Florida.

      Hello Dorothy,
I just emailed a printable recipe for the biscuits to you. Let me know if you do not receive the email.

      Thank you!

  5. Thanks for the beautiful pics. We had storms last night, and beautiful dark cloud formations. I wish I would have whipped out the camera, but work was calling my name all day! I’m in Central/West Coast Florida so we may get a lot of that over the weekend with the storm brewing. Maybe it will send you some more breezes.

      Hi Lisa,
I was born in Florida, and lived in Clearwater until we moved when I was 7 years old. You’re getting nicer weather today I hope.
      Thanks and you’re welcome!

      Hi Bonnie,
Harland and I thought we were alone, and then a couple comes walking up behind us, and we chatted for a while, and then they headed on up the road. I looked up, and saw them at the top of the hill and thought it would make a neat pic.
      Thanks!
