Blooming Forsythia

Last evening after checking the cows up at the farm, a flash a yellow caught my eye as I was walking back to my car. Could it be? Already?

This week we’ve seen unusually warm days with highs in the 80s, and a forsythia bush near the old cellar couldn’t wait any longer. I broke off some branches, took them home and put them in a vase.

Spring is officially here….

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

Beautifull!!!!!!! I will trade someone purple irises for a lilac bush in bloom, please. I so miss the lilacs of Montana. It is too warm here in the desert, we never get a hard freeze, and I miss them so.

I was worried about our Forsythia because in the fall we had such warm weather that it started to bloom in November. It is just loaded with blossoms now, so I guess I worried needlessly.

Such a cheery yellow! We are a little behind here in WA State, but the early daffodils are blooming and the crocus. Just this week the wild plum tree started blooming, too. I am so happy for Spring! We had 6 inches of snow last week! xx

  9. I just saw these for the first this season the other day. We have a lot growing along our local highway up on the hillsides. They are so beautiful!! I wish we had one in our yard!

They are not hard to start from cuttings. Just trim a few branches and stick in water. They will grow roots and you’ll have bushes.

  10. What a nice welcome to spring, Suzanne. For Louisianans, it’s azaleas!
