Cattle Therapy

No, not therapy for the cattle, therapy for me!

Sometimes when I need a stress reliever, I go out to the pasture and sit down (look before you sit of course)ย and let the cows graze around me.

SOOOO relaxing. The sound of them clipping the grass as they graze along…..the meadowlarks singing from the top of nearby fenceposts….the sound of little hooves as the calves approach with caution and then dare themselves to get closer and closer.

L to R: Eunice’s calf (aka, the Thief)ย and Clarabelle’s calf

It’s just me, the ground, the sky, and the cattle.

Perfect therapy and best of all, it’s free.

And here’s some free therapy for you too. Watch as Eunice and Clarabelle along with their calves come over to get a close look at me. (Make sure to have your speakers turned up)

.

.

Ahhh…..don’t you feel better now?

BTW, The last calf we saw there, the all brown one, is Eunice’s calf, aka, the Thief. Doesn’t he look innocent? Sure, right.

Have a good day all!

    Thanks, I needed that.

What a great video Suzanne! I love all the sounds…the wind, the munching, the birds, the train whistle… and I think Clarabelle’s calf is simply adorable. Aren’t you glad you don’t have to scratch your face with your foot? ๐Ÿ™‚ And one more question…are those Cottonwood trees in the background?

    • Suzanne says:

I think those are elm trees, the ones that are leafed out later in the video. Earlier in the vid there are trees that aren’t quiet leafed out yet and those are mulberry. Thanks Alica!

I soooo understand this kind of therapy. I did the exact same thing last night (minus the camera) after it finally started cooling down a little. On a different note… What do you all use for fly control as your cattle don’t seem as bothered by flies as ours are.

    • Suzanne says:

We don’t have many flies just yet, and most of the time the wind takes care of them. But later in the summer, Harland will put one of those rub thingys around the mineral tub.

That was wonderful! Thank you for sharing. I need and crave that kind of experience. Loved hearing the birds in the background, too–reminded me of summers spent at my grandparents’ farm in NH. Do you think you could film about 30 minutes next time? ๐Ÿ˜‰

What a wonderful therapy. I loved the calves they are so sweet and their eyelashes are SO long. I would hate to try and scratch with my back foot and a hoof. It is so quiet there, just the birds and the cattle cropping the grass. Right this very minute I hear cars driving by on the street and planes landing at the airport nearby.Oh and phones ringing on different desks. You are SO lucky!!

  6. That was fun.

Side note: I’ve noticed with bloggers who have a Pin It Image at the top of their posts that the Pin It Picture shows up on reading lists, etc. instead of the first real photo of the post. Didn’t know if you knew and/or was worried about it at all; but thought I’d pass it along. You don’t get that “set up” photo about the post.

What a wonderful video. I’ve had a stressful week so that was nice to watch. We live in such a noisy world, what a treat to have silence like that.

    • Suzanne says:

I couldn’t live without our silence. There was a time when I had a job in the city. I just about went crazy. Glad you enjoyed the video Patti and hope this week is going better so far.

  8. Hollyce says:

That was wonderful and those calves are just adorable. Don’t you worry you’ll get kicked or stepped on sitting on the ground so close to them? Check my blog (video tomorrow) for my stress relievers. They’re three and eleven months old. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Suzanne says:

Yes I do worry. When I was doing that vid, I had to get up and walk away from them several times because they kept crowding me. Finally they let me be, and I took the vid I was able to post here.
And your stress relievers are a couple of cuties!

  9. Mechelle says:

Oh that is so wonderfully relaxing, now I really want cows. Maybe one day. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Oh that was awesome! How great to get so right up close to them! The calves are so curious!! And adorable! Now I’m itchy!! LOL!

  11. Doe in Mi says:

That was wonderful – just what I needed today.

  12. If I had cattle, I would definitely be out there in the pasture for some cattle therapy, too.
