Kitty And The Suitcase

Kitty01

What is it about cats and suitcases? Why would she choose to ignore her soft flannel red blanky, to sit on rough canvas and zippers?

My suitcase seems to have a magnetic pull to Kitty. As soon as I pulled it out on Saturday, Kitty appeared and made her self at home.

Maybe part of it is the added height.

“I’m a queen and this is my throne.”

Or maybe she’s just laying claim to it.

“Like everything else in the house, I own this too.”

“Whatcha looking at Kitty?”

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

Maybe Kitty is saying “Take me with YOU!”

Tatum – cat is the same way; three times a year, I go out of town. When that suitcase comes out, the cat appears from thin air! And, if I am silly enough to open it in her presence, she gets in and won’t budge for love or money! It gets to be a challenge to see how much I can pack before she shows up.

Me too Evelyn. I don’t dare open the suitcase until I’m ready to pack otherwise she’ll sit inside and won’t get out until I tip the suitcase up and dump her out. Cats are so silly. 🙂

Our cats do the same thing! Sami especially loves to lay on backpacks, also.

    • Suzanne says:

Backpacks are one I hadn’t thought of. Kitty doesn’t show an interest in them for some reason.

  4. My Tiger kitty always thought he was going with me and didn’t want to be left behind. That’s why he claimed the suitcase.

Miss Kitty is so unique and I just love her.

I always enjoy reading about Kitty and her escapades. Your pictures of her are so beautiful! I took a bit of time to look at a bunch of Kitty-links – fun! You must be planning a trip – ?

A question – Did Kitty ever learn to drink water from the fancy-dancy circulating water bowl?

    • Suzanne says:

We took a quick trip to MO to attend my nephew’s graduation. And yes, Kitty did finally learn to use her new fancy waterfall waterer. It took her a few weeks though.
      Thanks for stopping by Jeanne!

My first cat Frito also got that way about suitcases, but she loved to travel with us. We’d tie her on a lead at the camp ground and she’d hang out with us (we just had to make sure she couldn’t get into the fire pit, that cat loved ashes).

My current cat Kiri just sees them and angsts out and tries to make sure we notice her and realize what a horrible awful thing it is that we’re going to leave her all alone in the vast wilderness of the house with the house sitter who is a close friend she knows well and adores (in part because he’ll tolerate her eternal quest to find a comfortable way to sleep on a human all night long).

    • Suzanne says:

We’ve tried putting Kitty on a leash. Yikes, she freaked out! Maybe it’s something you have to start with them when they’re kittens?
LOL about your cat’s “eternal quest to find a comfortable way to sleep on a human all night long”! So funny and true.

Oh, I love the “Kkkk-kkkk-kkk” picture; my Sundae does that to the birds too. I think kitty suspects that you’re planning a trip. Kitties know these things….
