Cutting, Pinning, Sewing

This week Harland received his vest in the mail, and I got him a pocket watch for his new vest pocket. His pants have been hemmed, and so he’s ready for the ball.

Me? I’m getting there. I’ve been working on my dress: cutting out both the fashion fabric and lining (the dress is fully lined). I made my own piping that will go around the neckline, sleeves, and bottom edge of the bodice. Last night I sewed all seven panels of the skirt together and tonight after work plan on making gathers at the waist and working on the waistband. There’s so much material I told Harland I feel like I’m making bed sheets.

I’ve yet to start on the bodice of the dress because I don’t have my corset and the bodice needs to be fitted with me wearing the corset.  But – I just heard from my corset maker this morning that it is to be shipped (along with my bloomers and under-petticoat) today.

So I should have it in a few days and I then can finally get my dress done. Whew!

Biting my nails – the ball is next Saturday, the 26th.
