Soybean Harvest 2014

Yesterday evening after work I joined Harland in the field where’s he’s been working on the soybean harvest.  First I took a few laps with him in the combine:

Then I got out of the combine and watched as he unloaded the beans into the waiting grain truck:

I headed home after that to do some laundry, eat supper, and get ready for bed. He came home about 9:30pm where I had supper waiting for him. I sat at the table and we chatted while he ate. Then he showered and we headed off the bed.

He’ll be finishing the beans soon. The corn harvest is done, and soon we’ll be rounding up the cattle from the summer pasture and bringing them home for the winter. Our life is measured in farm seasons.

Have a great day all!

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

I am a happy gal tonight! Suzanne is back, Harland is back in the soybeans, Kitty is no doubt sleeping in the laundry basket, all is right with the world! Blogs are words and photos of lives well lived. Sharing with others our highs and lows, without realizing we become a family. We have missed you Suzanne, welcome back!!!!!!

Now, this is lovely. It’s a little harder to take part in a soybean harvest than to bake one of your great recipes, but that’s ok. It’s still wonderful to see, and it does remind me of the year I drove an auger wagon for the milo harvest here in Texas!

I love watching the harvesting videos! My daughter and I were driving through the country yesterday and as we passed one of those grain trucks on the highway, she said “hey that’s like one of those that Harland uses!” Have a good weekend! 🙂
