This Little Piggy
THIS LITTLE PIGGY
This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed at home,
This little piggy had roast beef,
This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy went…
“Wee wee wee” all the way home…
Generations of parents have counted the toes of their little ones while reciting this nursery rhyme. It’s been a favorite since it was first published in 1728.
I used to play this with my little nephews and niece. Unfortunately, they’re too big now for This Little Piggy, and I’m not sure how they’ve grown so big so fast. Two of them recently got their driver’s licenses. Yikes!

When you figure out how they grow so fast. .let me know, will ya? I’m still scratchin’ my head about it too!!
Hi Melanie,
Well, the oldest nephew is now 16, and I swear it was just yesterday that I stood outside the delivery room and heard his first cry when he was born. Oh dear. I’m getting old. 🙂

I remember my mom singing this to me all the time… I loved it!
Thank you so much for your email and explanation on related posts. 😀
Hi Justina,
My mom sang it to us too. You’re welcome about the related posts, and sorry you can’t use it. You might be able to use another one called Link Within. I see that one on a lot of blogs. Seems to be kinda universal as to who can use it.

My mom says I loved that “game.”
Do parents still do it?
Hi Gardener,
Oh yes, after all it’s been around since the 1700s, so I think it will endure.

I play that with my 10 mth old. When he’ll let me, that is. He has ticklish toes so he usually starts laughing and pulls away before I can finish!
Hi Tabitha,
Awwwww……
I can remember my mom doing this with me when I was very little. Of course I did this with my kids too! I think every child loves “this little piggy”. Definitely a timeless classic!
Hi Bonnie,
Me too. Can you believe it’s been around since the early 1700s and passed on from generation to generation? Pretty neato.
I don’t know where the time goes either. It seems like yesterday my little god-daughter was born. She just turned 22 and gave a pre-doctoral dissertation at her university. Arrggghh!
