Holding Kitty

Since Kitty adopted us several years ago, (see post about that here) she’s never been one who loves to be held. Through much experimentation however, Harland has found a way to hold Kitty that she tolerates and possibly even enjoys.

Yes, it looks strange and uncomfortable.

But hey, it’s a “Kitty” thing, and all part of her charm.

That is just too funny… And, too cute!

When my daughter was a baby she had colic bad, bad, bad. Our pediatrician recommended holding her just the way Harland is holding Kitty. Maybe it calms Kitty’s overstimulated nerves! Ha!

Hi Suzanne, I work the the medical field and my diagnosis for Kitty is she likes deep solid compressions into her body, like a hug. This calms her which allows you to be able to hold her. She might have a sensory aversion to her feet which is why you can’t hold her in a way that they are being touched. Who knows, animals are crazy. Ha Ha

Never thought about the feet thing, but maybe that’s why she doesn’t like to be held in any other position.
      Thanks Mary 🙂

      PS: Love your site!!

I just adore Kitty! She has the most beautiful face.

  5. I think that’s just the sweetest thing!!! Particularly that Harlan will actually hold her like that. My Hubby wouldn’t bother. He was attached to the cat, but didn’t cuddle with him much.

I was hoping you’d have a post about Kitty again soon! My Sundae isn’t a lap kitty, but she will tolerate me holding her like you would hold a baby. Kitties have minds of their own!

The Kitty is beautiful. My Pancho likes to be held over my shoulder. Or at least he lets me for a few seconds. LOL

    • Suzanne says:

Thank you Darlene. Kitty allows us to hold her over our shoulder too – for about 2 seconds. 🙂

    Hi…!
Love all the “Kitty” posts 🙂
She is so beautiful. My cats like to be held like this too. Especially our Lucy who has very sensitive toes. Both cats love to snuggle. But Lucy is particular about being held correctly. She likes to feel secure. Thanks for sharing about your family!

So cute! My husband holds my cat in a strange way too. The cat doesn’t seem to mind though. But he is my cat and very possessive of me but does like attention from Dad ever noe and then.

      Hi Tina,
Cats do have their favorite people don’t they? It’s hard to figure out just how they decide though. 🙂

Ha ha! Too funny! My kids father would hold them like that sometimes. I wanted to let you that I baked a really wonderful cake yesterday! All my kids loved it! Oatmeal chocolate cake! I tryed out your recipe! Thanks so much for sharing! It’s a keeper!

  12. Aw, Kitty really does look comfortable. This post made me smile..thank you!!

My kitty only likes to be held hanging over my shoulder facing behind me. She would let me carry her around for hours that way, but I can’t hold her in a “normal” hold. Cute, cute pics of kitty and her man. 🙂
