Suzanne

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

  1. Can’t believe how big he’s gotten!! Still a handsome fella, though.

    • Suzanne says:

He’s about 8.5 pounds now. He’s bigger than Kitty, but she still outweighs him and beats him when they wrestle.

It’s so much easier when you know the clean laundry has been pre-furred! Such a vicious licker <3

Yeah, that’s true, he might as well get it furry right away..it’ll get that way eventually anyway. 🙂

I was thinking about you Sunday morning on my way home from my July 4 visit to the coast. I passed a beautiful pasture with thick grass, and a multitude of cows and calves — Angus. The spring calves weren’t particularly old, and they were frolicking away, with some mamas lumbering after them.

It’s always such fun to see what Muffin’s up to, too. I hope your holiday was nice. Our gardens are closing down for the time being. I went to a picking farm yesterday and gathered some of the last tomatoes (they’re splitting terribly because of too much rain) and I got 20 pounds of figs. Oh, am I going to enjoy those! I gave some to a friend who makes preserves, but who wasn’t able to go out and pick this year. Next up? Watermelons, cantaloupe, and squash. Anyone need some zuchinni? 🙂

Our cattle are having a great summer with all the lush grass to eat.
Our garden is just picking up. We’ve had some new potatoes, we put up a mess of green beans, our tomatoes are setting on green maters, we’ve had a couple cucumbers, and the corn ears will be filling out soon. Had some mold problems with the tomatoes…too wet for them.
I haven’t planted zucchini in years. I used to make a lot of zucchini bread. Mmmmm…
Hope you had a good holiday too. Ours was quiet and we puttered around the farm and house.

Oh, that boy is such a rascal! He’s soooo pretty! Is his fur really, really soft? It looks like it is.

How is the sink hole? It’s so good to hear from you.

    • Suzanne says:

Muffin is like an angora sweater..with claws and fangs. Very very soft…
The sink hole has stopped sinking for now. The rains have eased up some. Today it is raining, but it’s the first time this week.
      Thanks Jeanne!

It’s so nice to have another posting. When we are left hanging , we always few the worst, and you are missed.
    Hope things are going well.

    Welcome back.

Thanks Katie…Don’t mean to disappear…just summer is so busy for us. Thanks for putting up with me. 🙂

Oh goodness Suzanne, Muffin is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen! Of course I have said the same thing about Kitty and I mean every word. There is something about that squirrel tailed boy that makes me happy! Love the chance to chat with you today, as you, my friend, are very important to me. Peace be with you.

Muffin is a beautiful cat and I love his full tail. Hard to believe that is the same kitten you and Harland drug home…I mean rescued. Glad you are having a nice summer.
