Blue Sage

On my way home from work one day, I noticed a flash of blue at the edge of the road. Later, I went back to get a closer look.

It’s a native plant called Blue Sage.

Because it is native, it knows all about the droughts we can get, and so it puts down roots from 6 to 8 feet.

Have you ever lay down in a field of wildflowers?  This is what it looks like:

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. They are just beautiful, Suzanne! My husband and I came across a field of skullcap in bloom back during the summer and it was amazing. We joked about all of the skullcap being the reason our horses were always so calm and mellow! 🙂

  2. I’m going to miss flowers! Winter is just too close for comfort. Thanks for posting these pics!

Suzanne, your blue sage is so pretty, would be so neat
to just lay down in it. Does it have a fragance? And I
have to wonder if the Hummingbirds get into it! Its a
    good shape for them.

Yes, I once hid from my Mother that way, flat on my back scarcely breathing. She never found me, and I never told.

      Hi Bonnie,
I hadn’t heard of it either so I had to look it up. I wish I could see all the wildflowers that must have been here a couple hundred years ago.
