More Fall Color

First off, I’m sorry I didn’t get a post up yesterday. Crazy busy all day, and just didn’t get to it. Weekend was crazy too, but I’ll tell you more about that later in the week. Here are a few hints: helicopter, parade, twisted knee, airplane, and lady with a beehive hairdo.

Anywho, here’s a picture I meant to share with you yesterday, or the day before, whatever.

Happy Belated Halloween!

Amidst all the weekend insanity, I was able to get more pictures of the fall color.

We visited a small town by the name of Hiawatha.

About a 100 years ago, a resident of the town had a beautiful sugar maple in his yard.

Wanting to share its beauty, he saved seeds and planted them,

and then handed out free trees to anyone who wanted them.

Today the town comes alive with color from hundreds of maple trees every fall,

and visitors come from all around just to see them.

I hope you’ve been able to get out and see some lovely fall foliage, and that you had a fun and safe Halloween.

——> Up Next: Why am I leaning against an almost total stranger with a crazy grin on my face, and what am I doing next to a helicopter…. me- who is afraid of heights and doesn’t like to fly?  Stay tuned folks.

What a wonderful story. That resident gave such a wonderful gift to the town, and it lives on. Love the jack ‘o lanterns too! We had a good Halloween, but I gotta get rid of this leftover candy – it’s calling me! 🙂

      Hi Vivian,
Thank you. Since we don’t have trick or treaters, we don’t have any candy around. I wish I did though. 🙂

  2. Thanks for the pictures. Halloween was just another day since our boys are all grown up and don’t dress up to go trick or treating with mom. Now I have another town on my want to visit list. I want to live on that tree lined street too.

Your post reminded me of the following quote. Gotta love those maples!

Love the pictures–hope the knee and the helicopter ride didn’t go hand in hand 🙂

    • Suzanne says:

      Hi Melanie,
The knee injury occurred on Saturday, and a plane ride on Sunday was hampered in a funny way by it. Stay tuned tomorrow for the details. 🙂

    Those trees look good.
I love a mass planting of good trees like that.
It’s now “fall” in North America. (we call it “Autumn”) The weather is warming up and it seems we will soon be in a hot and dry summer.
I have found the American trees do so well here. I have groups on my driveway of about 40 of both Liquidamber ( you call the ‘Sweetgum’ ??) and of Scarlett Oak.
Already at only five years old they are amazing in color just before winter in May and June.
When they are bigger it will be incredible.

      Hi Kerry,
Isn’t is wonderful t plant trees and watch them grow up? The view along your driveway must be beautiful.

Beautiful colours of autumn. Great pictures.

  9. Wow, those are some beautiful trees! What a wonderful thing that man did. I love that! Fall is so charming and nostalgic. It is truly one of my favorite times of year. I love the home in the first photo with the smiling jacks and the lace curtains in the curved window pane! aaaahhh! so pretty!

      Hi Bonnie,
You know, we had a hard time finding a yard with carved pumpkins. Seems like people don’t do that as much anymore.

  10. Thanks for sharing the pictures. The trees & colors are gorgeous!
