Monarch Butterfly Update

Last night, Mr. Monarch looked like this.

And this morning, he looked like this.

In this picture, you can just make out the orange and black of a wing on the left side of the pupa.

I told Harland we better boil some water and call the doctor.

A butterfly will be born sometime today.

Will keep you posted.

UPDATE:  This morning, he hatched!!  A beautiful orange and black monarch butterfly. More later!!

    How did you get it from the pink pet carrier to the twig?

      The caterpillar attached it with silken thread similar to spiderweb, so I carefully peeled the webbing away from the carrier and attached it to the twig. I added a little glue for insurance.
