I’m Going To Do Some Baking

A while back I decided I was getting a little padded around the middle and decided I needed to cut back.  Go on a diet.

Not too long after that, I began thinking about food, about new recipes I’d like to try, about all-you-can-eat buffets with roast beef and mashed potatoes and gravy. I started spending lots of time looking at recipes online, and in magazines.

Food.

FOOD.

FOOOOOD!!!!!

Then I was in the doctor’s office a couple weeks ago, and saw a magazine with whoopie pies on the cover.

I’ve never made whoopie pies before.

And I decided right then and there that I wanted to make whoopie pies.

It wasn’t a hard decision really.

Chocolate with a cream filling. Cream cheese filling. Cream cheese is a dairy product sooooooooo that makes whoopie pies nutritious right?

Several days later I remembered a recipe I used to make years ago for lemon bread with a lemon glaze drizzled over the top.

Lemons have vitamin C, so that make lemon bread part of a healthy diet right?

Then I saw a recipe in a magazine for pumpkin bread with chunks of apple.

Toasted and slathered with real butter…..    Oh my……

Hey, apples and pumpkins are chock full of wholesome goodness, so that would make pumpkin bread a health food, right?

So when I find some time, maybe this weekend, I’m going to do some baking.  Of course I’ll share the recipes with you.

I’m enjoying this dieting thing.

I am right there with you! When the weather is cold all I want is comfort food and the Holidays don’t help and now we are all pudgy.

My recliner is offering very little in the way of exercising! If spring doesn’t get here soon, I’m not gonna be able to move. I’ve ate my way through several winter months now…..

I think baking would be bunches of fun as compared to preg checking cows….outdoors, cold, smelly, and chances of being kicked,,,or indoors, warm , fragrant odors, and chance of being kissed—yep think I’d opt for indoor baking—–though I have helped with the other and avoided being kicked.

I made whoopie pies a few years ago for our daughter’s 30th birthday. It was oatmeal cookies with the cream filling in it. Everybody loved them. We’ve eaten the real thing in PA when we visited an Amish friend some years ago. They sure know how to bake. I know it’s hard to not want to cook all the goodies. We must behave ourselves in the food realm, huh?
