Above The Haymaking

In my last post I drove the bucket truck for the first time, and today I’ll show you what the hayfield looks like from high above in the bucket.

Harland hopped out of the tractor just long enough to hoist me up into the air and then got back to work baling the rest of the hay in this field.  I’m afraid of heights, but didn’t want to pass up a chance to see how the haymaking looks from above.

(Hint: To keep your pics interesting, always be on the lookout for a different angle to shoot from. For children, pets, and flowers, get down on their level. We often end up laying on the ground to do this. To show the big picture, get up as high as you can. We’ve shot pics standing on a chair, from the top of our pickup truck, the roofs of buildings, small planes and a helicopter. Harland’s even had the opportunity to shoot from the ladder of a fire truck.)

Anywho, here’s the view from our bucket truck:

Notice my deathgrip. The wind was blowing hard shaking bucket back and forth. It was scary, but I stood there for a while to get used to it, and then started taking pics as Harland finished baling this field.

After he finished, he hopped out of the tractor and came over to let me down.

Besides the bucket controls on the truck, there are also controls in the bucket but I’m afraid I’d push the wrong buttons and crash to the ground. So Harland brought me back safely to earth and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Then he went back to work in another field, and I headed home to do some housework.

Harland’s working on some of the last of the hay today, and soon he’ll start harvesting wheat. I’ve taken some pics of the wheat that I’ll be sharing with you soon.

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

That would be high enough for me. You are correct and different view gives you different ideas.

Whoo! How high were you? Looked pretty high. Great pictures from that vantage point. When I got a glimpse of that ancient barn I immediately wanted to see more of it! I was sooo happy to see that “click here” and I’m going to do that right now.

    Have a great day!
