Convalescing

Day by day, Kitty is getting better. This morning, her fever was gone. She’s eating better. Tonight she begged for table handouts at supper. She still won’t drink water for some reason, but she will eat whipped cream several times a day, and plenty of milk. Her meow is raspy, but getting stronger. Tonight when I got home from work, she greeted me with a weak meow and a roll over onto her back. First time I’ve seen that in days. She went outside this evening where she laid down and looked around for a few minutes.

She’s not been playful at all. She’s also not been naughty. No jumping on the counter, no attempting to steal Harland’s lunch, no ankle grabbing, no unauthorized jumping outside when we open the door. I never thought I would wish for her to be naughty just so I’d know she was feeling good.

She spends a lot of time each day on the back of the living room chair.

It’s a comfy spot near a window and in a high traffic area so she can keep an eye on us.

I wonder what she’s thinking about.

“Be one with the chair…”

“I AM THE CHAIR!”

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

I love her eyes…you really do have to wonder what’s going on inside that pretty little head of hers!

Her eyes look better. The first pictures they looked like a little sick child. Glad she is better.

It’s amazing how often I’ve thought of Kitty in the past few days. So glad to hear she’s better, and we’re all waiting along with you for her to be “naughty” again!

This morning she hopped onto the bed to greet us when the alarm went off, something she hasn’t done since she got sick. Yay!

She sounds like her old self is coming back. With a respiratory infection the higher she is the more the air circulates and it is easier for her to breath…. Poor little girl… She will soon be back to her rambunctious self.
I can hear in your email you are relieved. By Monday when I look on again she will be back to grabbing ankles!!!!!

She really does look better, you can see a little of the awareness coming back. I’m so happy to see that.

Aww, so very glad that she’s doing better! I agree with the others – she DOES look better! We shall wait anxiously to hear when she first grabs an ankle!! That’ll be the real clue!

Dear Kitty, you are my favorite Kittty, second only to my own kitty, Cookie. I had no idea you were sick, that is what I get for not checking my computer. My husband is in the hospital and I missed all of mom’s posts about your condition. I said a special Kitty prayer for the return of your good health, twinkling eyes, and lovely coat of many colors. Feel better Kitty, you are loved by so many, give Mom and Dad scratchy kisses, they love you baby girl. ; – )

good to hear that she improves daily. She’s looking better too, as others have commented, her eyes look less sick in today’s pictures.

I am in need of a Kitty update. Hoping she is almost back to her old self. Begging for scraps is a good sign!!!

Sorry for my absence here Lorraine. Kitty is feeling better every day. She’s eating better, and back to sleeping with us on the bed. She hops outside for the occasional unauthorized layabout in the sun. She’s not playful yet though, and her appetite is not 100%. We think it’s the antibiotic maybe making her a little nauseous. It’s getting to be a real rodeo to get her medicine down her which is a good sign, I guess. 🙂
