Bald Eagle At Rest

On a hot July afternoon, a bald eagle, winded from hunting prey, alights in a cottonwood tree to rest and catch his breath in the heat.

We saw this guy/girl on a recent trip to Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge over in Missouri. We see eagles there a lot in the winter, but not as often in the summer, so this was a treat.

Have a great day everyone!

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

What a rare sight, did the eagle make a sound? I have seen a large nest, very high in the trees, but I have not heard the eagles communicate. Lovely pictures!

I had the camera resting on the open window of our truck, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to hold still either. 🙂

      Thanks Louise!
