A few from the spring pasture on a cloudy day:

The cows and their young calves will stay here until the move to the summer pasture. The calves are growing like crazy. Some of them are almost two months old now.

Cattle, corn, wheat, beans, mud, snow, ice, and drought. Plenty of fresh air and quiet. Our life is sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes joyous, but never boring.

Those calves really are getting big! How are the “prisoner”
and her daughter doing?
They’re doing well. They went to a summer pasture a few miles from home on Saturday. They were happy with all the green grass and space.
Does a calf sell for more money than a full grown cow? Do you think a mama cow misses her baby if one is sold?
No, because cattle sell by the pound. I think a Mama cow misses her calf for a little while, but we turn ours out into the cornfield right after weaning and they takes their minds off their troubles. Cows think a lot with their stomachs. 🙂
I love how you can see forever in Kansas. I am surrounded by mountains so it’s cool to see your view.
